Safety signs have helped a racecourse achieve formal recognition from the national tourist board.

Uttoxeter Racecourse underwent assessment earlier this year by VisitEngland, the Uttoxeter Advertiser reports.

And health and safety signage, the track's website, visitor welcome, toilets, food facilities and, of course, the event itself, were all factors that saw the racecourse praised as, variously, "very attractive and well managed", "very good", and a "quality destination".

Uttoxeter Racecourse can now proudly display the coveted VisitEngland Quality Assured plaque. This informs visitors they are set for a fantastic, value for money day out.

"I'm personally delighted with the results of our assessment which demonstrated that our staff provide an excellent experience for our visitors," a course spokesperson told the newspaper.

"It is also hugely useful to have a truly independent assessment, because it has shown me one or two areas where we can improve in order to offer an even better day out at the races."

The course's flagship races are the John Smith's Midlands Grand National and the Britannia English Summer National.
