Scottish event 'could highlight role of safety signs in preventing silicosis'

6th November 2009 | Health and Safety Signs

An event is being held in Scotland to highlight the importance of proper precautions to protect workers, which could include the use of safety signs.

It is being run by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Working Well Together campaign and highlights the risks that silicosis can present members of the workforce.

The event forms part of a series running throughout Scotland and will highlight the practical steps businesses can take to improve conditions, which could include the effective use of safety signs.

Pamela McKenzie, from the HSE, highlights the importance of companies taking adequate safety precautions to protect their workforce, keeping them well informed and trained.

She says: "There are many practical steps employees and employers can take to reduce the risks from inhaling stone dust … Monday's event aims to provide workers with the knowledge they need to help them protect their health."

Earlier this month, an event being held in Fife was announced that will highlight the importance of using effective precautions such as construction safety signs.ADNFCR-2754-ID-19446659-ADNFCR
