An insurance firm has shown how safety stickers can be used to alert motorists to the presence of children during the dark winter months.

Be Wiser Insurance sent out more than 80,000 reflective, high-visibility 'Be Wiser' safety stickers to 20,000 of its customers.

The stickers, which have an owl image on them, are designed to help increase the chances of children being seen by drivers.

A further 10,000 stickers were also sent out to schools.

The deputy head of Anton Junior School, in Andover, Hampshire, praised the stickers."The children were delighted with the Be Wiser stickers. It is a great way to highlight the serious subject of safety while walking home, in a fun and effective way," she said.

Safety stickers were recently used as part of a police crackdown on drink drivers in South Yorkshire.

The stickers - bearing the question: "Are you looking at a drink driver?" - were attached to mirrors in washrooms in pubs and clubs throughout the county.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800311230-ADNFCR
