Safety alerts to highlight need for warning signs
27th January 2010 | Health and Safety Signs
A sector watchdog has launched a new scheme which will send companies safety alerts in order to remind them to use workplace precautions, such as warning signs.
Judith Hackitt, chair of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), revealed that the alerts will be sent to firms operating in a sector where a major accident has occurred.
She said that this will hopefully remind them of the importance of using safety signs and other preventative measures to stop employees from being killed.
"[The] HSE believes that by initiating this new and updated web-based process of safety alerts we have started a renewed effort to share key learning and messages," she explained.
Mike Wilcock, head of operations for the HSE in the south-east, recently said that the organisation has to deal with the fallout of workers being killed far too often, especially when this could be avoided.
