The independent secure shredding company Russell Richardson has joined a new health and safety scheme, recognising its excellent health and safety practices, such as its use of warning signs.

It collected the SAFEcontractor accreditation after working towards a uniform standard of health and safety across its operations, with the new status potentially enhancing its reputation in the industry.

John Kinge, head of risk at SAFEcontractor, said: "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Russell Richardson has done.

"The firm's high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector."

Mr Kinge stressed that major companies cannot run the risk of employing contractors who are unable to evidence sound health and safety policies.

Recently, Vinci Construction UK won the celebrating construction in South Yorkshire health and safety award.

It collected the honour after demonstrating its compliance with the construction industry's health and safety legislation.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801229366-ADNFCR
