A conference on health and safety in the manufacturing industry is to take place this month. 'Made in the UK - safe steps to success' will be hosted by charity group the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at Thinktank, in Birmingham, on March 18th.

The manufacturing sector accounts for around ten per cent of the UK's workforce, but 20 per cent of its notifiable injuries and fatalities. RoSPA intends to reduce this injury rate with a variety of speakers at its Birmingham conference.

Nick Ratty (head of manufacturing at the Health and Safety Executive), Neil Shotton (managing director of Business Safety Systems Ltd) and Helen Devery (partner at Berrymans Lace Mawer Solicitors) will all be talking on a variety of topics at the event.

Rob Burgon, RoSPA’s workplace safety manager, said: "Anyone with a responsibility for workplace health and safety in the manufacturing sector should attend this conference.

"A vibrant health and safety culture can help to drive other areas of business success, resulting in a more efficient and effective workforce, bringing with it greater employee engagement and creativity."ADNFCR-2754-ID-801699991-ADNFCR
