Road users ignore road signs at Weymouth tourist spot

Motorists are disregarding warning signs at a popular Weymouth tourist spot, which is putting lives in danger.

Residents in the area have narrowly avoided being hit by cars in Hope Square, with a number of near-crashes being reported as a result of motorists ignoring no entry signs, reports the Dorset Echo.

Speaking to the newspaper, PC Sam Hillier of Weymouth police, who is the Safer Neighbourhood Beat Manager, warned: "There was a road traffic collision last week because people are not expecting cars to be coming the other way and cannot see until it too late."

Ms Hiller noted that police have visited the hotspot six times to give polite advice, though it is not working, as complaints are still being made by the public.

Her comments come after the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health has told the government to merge health and safety laws instead of cutting them.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800699230-ADNFCR
