Road safety measures finished in Donnington

30th August 2011 | Warning Signs

A selection of road improvements has been introduced in Donnington, which include flashing warning signs for drivers.

Leicestershire County Council has installed the signs as a reaction to concerns about speeding. As part of a £35,000 scheme, the signs show a blank face until vehicles approach them at excessive speeds, prompting them to flash, reports AboutMyArea.co.uk.

Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for environment and transport, told the website: "High Street is a very busy route through Castle Donington and I'm pleased we have been able to respond to villagers' concerns about speeding traffic."

The new measures will encourage road users to slow down and help to improve the area for the local community, Mr Pendleton noted.

Recently, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents invited businesses in South Lanarkshire to take part in a free road safety seminar in Hamilton.

It takes place at Chatelherault Country Park on September 15th and hopes to improve road safety knowledge among small and medium-sized firms.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800713147-ADNFCR
