Parking signs mislead Salisbury residents

A pensioner has been hit with a £70 fine after being misled by warning signs at a memorial service in Salisbury.

Tony Miller, 75, parked in Castle Street to attend the event and took notice of a sign that read: "Disabled badge holders only, Mon-Sat, 8am- 6pm, 3 hours, no return within 3 hours," reports the Salisbury Journal.

Mr Miller believed this to mean that anyone could park at the bay outside of those hours, though he returned to find that he had been issued a parking ticket.

He told the news provider: "There was no mention of Sundays on the sign. It was confusing."

It follows a report from the York Press, which revealed that conservation chiefs have criticised the number of road signs in York.

Sir Ron Cooke, chairman of York Civic Trust, said that the number of expensive signs is becoming scandalous.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800731101-ADNFCR
