Parents request new road signs in Derby

Parents are calling for new warning signs to be installed outside of a Derby pre-school in an effort to improve safety.

Newbold Parish Church Pre-school has submitted a petition to councillor Tony Rogers, urging for new road signs to be fitted outside the premises after a 16-year-old girl was knocked down, reports the Derbyshire Times.

Mr Rogers explained: "Parents and the manager at the school have been concerned for a long time about the speed of traffic outside the school. We would like to see a 20-mile-an-hour speed limit and warning signs."

He went on to say that he hopes a survey will be completed for every nursery school where there is a threat from nearby traffic.

Viking Primary School is another that has adopted new safety measures, with the Ealing Times reporting that pupils at the school have designed new safety signage to inform drivers of the 30mph speed limit in the area.  ADNFCR-2754-ID-801285741-ADNFCR
