Last year’s Olympic Games proved to be a success for people across the country, but it also led to changes for safety signs.

The event saw demand from London businesses for bespoke legible London mapping and signage in and around their premises to enable visitors and workers to walk freely and easily, according to Transport for London (TfL)

Following the event, TfL engaged with London businesses to share guidance on best practice, mapping and signage, while the organisation is continuing to promote walking.

“Lessons learnt includes the use of larger, more directional signage to specific places of interest, and different styles of signage which are bespoke to the locations in question and the specific challenges faced,” the group noted.

It added that signage beyond station gates is vital to help customers make their way to events.

Temporary variable message signs (VMS) were also used effectively during the Games to inform people of when the Games Lanes were open for use.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801627215-ADNFCR
