New safety signs have been introduced at Withybush Hospital in Wales, resulting in an NHS award.

The organisation worked closely with adults with learning disabilities and the local community health council to devise a new approach to help patients find their way around the hospital, reports Wales Online.

Hywel Dda Health Board was named as the winner of the Citizens at the Centre Of Service Re-Design and Delivery award.

Lesley Jenkins, acute services nurse manager at Withybush Hospital, told the news provider: “We are delighted to win an NHS Wales Award for everyone involved but particularly our users with learning disabilities whose insight was integral to the success of this project.”

Mr Jenkins continued by saying that the work has helped the organisation realise how important it is to consider communications in different elements of healthcare.

Companies that win safety awards could see their reputation improve dramatically, giving them an upper hand against their rivals in the industry.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801621459-ADNFCR
