Lancashire women protests for road safety measures

27th September 2011 | Warning Signs

A Lancashire women is urging for new warning signs to be installed on a hazardous road in the county.

After campaigning for several years, Karen Paton was informed last year that the speed limit on the A584 Preston New Road would drop from 70mph to 50mph, but these changes are still pending, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.

Ms Paton's mother Doreen was killed on the road last year.

Speaking to the newspaper, Jim Robson, assistant director for environmental services, said: "While it was agreed last year that the work should go ahead, the scheme involves improvements to road signs and lines as well as a change of speed limit."

Mr Robson stated that there is a design process and legal consultation to go through prior to the changes being implemented.

An article for the Oxford Times has revealed that additional safety signs were needed on the A415 Kingston Road in Oxfordshire, after drivers complained about inadequate signage in the area.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800740513-ADNFCR
