The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is to visit Qatar in a bid to explain preparations for the safety of construction workers ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the area.

At IOSH’s Middle East Annual Conference 2013, the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee (Q22) will reveal its workers charter and share solutions for how employees can stay safe when undertaking work in the region.

IOSH president Gerard Hand said: “As the voice of health and safety professionals, IOSH believes it can help to address some of the challenges that arrive with building and organising one of the greatest events on earth, by offering guidance on construction safety and planning of safe events.”

Mr Hand emphasised that the competition is a “fantastic event for Qatar” and will help to increase employment while showing how the country can effectively host worldwide events.

Qatar will be hoping they see as much success as London’s Olympic Delivery Authority, which picked up a number of awards for their work on the event and the Paralympic Games.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801576324-ADNFCR
