Incident serves as 'reminder' about gas cylinder safety

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has called on businesses to adhere to adequate safety measures when using gas cylinders, which may cause some organisations to reassess their safety signage.

This warning comes after an Oak Farm Gas Company worker was killed when a gas cylinder exploded in his presence. Upon inspecting the company, the HSE discovered that it did not possess the appropriate tools for filling low pressure gas cylinders.

HSE inspector Will Pascoe said: "Anyone who examines, refurbishes, fills or uses a gas cylinder should be suitably trained and have the necessary skills to carry out their job safely."

Employees should be aware of the risks associated with high pressure gas cylinders, Mr Pascoe also urged.

The HSE recently appealed to recycling firms in the UK, warning them to take safety seriously amid an injury to an individual working for Environcom England Ltd.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800584178-ADNFCR
