A car park in Hertford has been handed the Park Mark Safer Parking Award.

The honour is given to car parks that have successfully passed a risk assessment carried out by the police and the British Parking Association, reports the Hertfordshire Mercury.

The Safer Parking Scheme’s area manager Ian Carmichael told the news provider: "We are delighted that the Old London Road car park car park has reached the standards required by the scheme, as it demonstrates that East Herts Council are committed to providing safer environments for those that use their facilities.

Councillor Paul Phillips, executive member for economical development, also commented on the news, saying that the honour illustrates how seriously the authority takes its responsibility to improve the public's safety.

Authorities can benefit greatly from safety awards, which not only leave a good impression on the public, but also help to boost the morale of existing staff.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801549629-ADNFCR
