Homes in Sedgemoor representatives have been providing health and safety training to pupils in the area.

Experts have been appearing at the Wedmore Academy First School to illustrate the significance of wearing appropriate protective equipment on building sites, reports Thisisthewestcountry.co.uk.

Dawn Lang, interim chief executive for Homes in Sedgemoor, told the news provider: "We pride ourselves on our community involvement and we were really pleased to help Wedmore First School Academy with this health and safety training for the children."

Ms Lang explained that she hopes the training will help to keep children safe and possibly inspire some to pursue a career in construction.

Last month, the National Federation of Builders was recognised for its health and safety efforts in the construction industry.

The firm won an honour at the CIOB Commitment to Construction in West Yorkshire awards for its Stay Safe, Stay Away scheme, which saw children design posters to highlight the dangers of building sites.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801333568-ADNFCR
