Gloucestershire road safety plans finalised

Road safety signs are to be installed in Taynton as part of a new project in Gloucestershire.

The work will be funded by a £10,000 budget, which will be allocated to each county councillor in Gloucestershire. All of these representatives have spoken with their communities to pinpoint areas for improvement, reports This Is Gloucestershire.

Councillor Stephen McMillan said: "I have nine parishes in my division, and after discussions with all of them, I felt it was only fair to divide the £10k equally between them.

"I felt it would be wrong to choose a small number of projects in one or two of the parishes when they all have things they would like done."

Some of the parishes will equal the funding with their own money to facilitate more substantial works.

Despite these new plans, a study by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) recently revealed that British councils have reduced the amount of money they spend on road safety by 18 per cent, with the total currently standing at £105 million.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801533329-ADNFCR
