Firefighters dispatched to protect public from sign

16th January 2014 | Warning Signs

An unusual turn of events in London has led to the possibility that warning signs may be needed to keep the public safe from a sign.

After a period of very high winds, the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square found that one of the letters on its main sign had come loose, and looked likely to fall off.

The second ‘O’ on the ‘ODEON’ sign at the top of the building was left in a very “precarious position”, according to a tweet from London Fire Brigade.

The brigade checked the sign using a cherry picker, before sending firefighters to abseil down the 37 metre high tower to secure the sign.

Luckily, London Fire Brigade was able to sort the dangerous sign out before anything unfortunate happened.

Odeon Cinemas tweeted London Fire Brigade later that day to say: “Thanks @LondonFire for your help with our 'O' today, you are our herO's!”ADNFCR-2754-ID-801682875-ADNFCR
