Employers urged to protect staff with safety signs and regulations

Employers in West Yorkshire are being urged to implement measures to safeguard staff against injury, which include putting up health and safety signs.

Councillor James Monaghan, Leeds City Council's executive board member for health and safety, said it is important that all companies are aware of the action they could be taking to look after their workers, such as putting up safety signs.

"All businesses should be mindful of their responsibilities to the safety of employees and the public, and by going out there with the Health and Safety Executive [HSE] and providing intensive support we are making sure that health and safety is a top priority," he explained.

He pointed to recent statistics compiled by the HSE, which showed that almost 3,000 avoidable injuries occurred in the UK between April 2008 and March this year, which could highlight the need for health and safety signs.

Meanwhile, an upcoming awareness event is being held in Scotland by the HSE and the Working Well Together campaign to highlight the importance of taking proper precautions to protect employees.ADNFCR-2754-ID-19451062-ADNFCR
