Embarrassment over misspelled sign

Drivers driving down the A590 looking for Greenodd might be surprised, as a new sign put up there is directing them to 'Greennodd' instead. The erroneous extra 'n' was put there by mistake after a £2.7 million project to replace the T-junction of the A590 and A5092.

The misspelled sign was spotted by eagle-eyed local Archie Workman, from nearby Ulverston. He tweeted a picture of the mistake, saying: "Over four months to build the #Greenodd roundabout and they cannot spell it's name ~ #Oops."

Mr Workman pointed out to BBC News that the workers have been in and around the local area since July 2013, long before the project began in earnest, and would have seen plenty of shops and amenities with 'Greenodd' in the name.

Although in this case there was no harm done, businesses should always make sure signs are written properly, with correct spellings. In the case of safety signage, errors could even cause an accident.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801697701-ADNFCR
