Improvement works on the M62 are closer to completion after electronic signs were introduced on its final two sections.

The overhead notices show variable mandatory speed limits and lane closure information and have come into operation between junction 28 in Tingley and junction 30 in Rothwell, reports the Telegraph and Argus.

As well as this, traffic cones and fixed-plate temporary signs were removed. The electronic signs will remain constantly illuminated with a maximum speed limit of 50mph until they are made fully operational.

Highways Agency project manager David Pilsworth told the news provider: “Activating the signs on the final two sections is a significant milestone for us, and we are working hard to ensure the scheme is completed in full as soon as possible.”

He went on to say that drivers will soon be able to start enjoying the benefits of reduced congestion and improved journey times between junction 25 and 30 of the M62.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801627809-ADNFCR
