East Midlands Trains picks up safety honour

East Midlands Trains has collected its third safety award in a row at a recent ceremony.
At the National Rail Awards, the train operator was applauded for working hard with partners to develop training and publications, resulting in innovative campaign awareness initiatives for the country's rail network.
It was praised for its 'Taking ownership of suicide on our railway' campaign, which was developed with Network Rail, the Samaritans, British Transport Police and ASLEF.
Judges at the event praised the company's proactive approach to the sensitive issue, which can have a significant effect on transport timetables throughout the country's network.
Managing director of East Midlands Trains David Horne said: "Suicides on our network have a terrible impact on everyone involved. By taking control and taking a proactive approach we can make a positive difference.
"We're committed to continuing our work in this area to prevent suicides across the network."
