Dungeness B power station has collected an award in recognition of its outstanding safety record.

The EDF Energy site was chosen for the top award in the electricity category of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards, according to the Rye and Battle Observer.

Commenting on the accolade, station director Martin Pearson said: "Safety is our over-riding priority at the station and for this commitment to be recognised nationally is an exceptional achievement."

Mr Pearson explained that the honour reflects the "extraordinary lengths" the station goes to in order to ensure safety and generate low carbon electricity.

Health and safety awards can boost the profile of businesses and make staff more motivated.

GSL Dardan is another company that has been commended for its safety measures, as it has picked up the British ISO 18001 Standard, proving that it is competent at addressing a number of risk areas.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801410820-ADNFCR
