An event held by the Institution of Occupational Safety (IOSH) in Dundrum yesterday (March 6th) has raised awareness of health and safety issues in the agriculture industry.

One of the speakers, Peter Gohery, lost his leg in a farm accident and has urged for more stringent measures to be introduced to the sector.

The event was an opportunity for health and safety professionals and industry stakeholders to share good practice techniques that could help to reduce the number of deaths in the industry.

Mr Gohery stated: "I lost my left leg above the knee and my right was also badly damaged to the point of nearly losing that too. It was absolutely devastating, as I knew it would ruin my career and change my life."

IOSH hosts regular events to raise awareness of safety issues, with Health and safety - looking back to the future? Set to be their latest.

It will take place at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle on 19th March.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801552609-ADNFCR
