Derbyshire teachers admit road safety fears

Teachers at Brockwell Junior School  and Brockwell Infant and Nursery School have admitted they fear for the safety of their pupils on nearby roads..

Staff at the schools told the Derbyshire Times that parking issues are leading to buses mounting the pavement, resulting in a dangerous environment for both parents and children.

Speaking to the news provider, Margaret Ward, head teacher of the Nursery and Infant School, said: "We just don’t want to have a dreadful accident before something is done.

"It’s really difficult because we have two schools on the site with 500 children being dropped off."

Ms Ward went on to say that there is a bus route past the school every eight minutes, but there is simply not enough room for buses to pass when parents are parked in illegal positions.

Staff who feel that the parking system at their workplace is dangerous should make their worries clear, or the safety of workers could be put at risk.  ADNFCR-2754-ID-801551888-ADNFCR
