Councillor urges for safety signs at Wiltshire school

Councillor Simon Byers has called for warning signs to be introduced near Old Sarum primary school.
Speaking to the Salisbury Journal, Mr Byers explained that it is “totally unacceptable” that no signs have been put up since the school opened in 2011, and warned that the situation is set to “get worse”.
Councillor Byers told the news provider: “There is no signage indicating to anyone entering the development that there is a school. I don’t want it to get to the situation where a child is hurt. Something has got to be done, there have been a couple of near misses.”
He added that much of the danger would come from crossing in the wrong place, while children being left to their own devices could also put personal safety in jeopardy.
It is important that children and drivers alike take notice of safety signage when crossing the road, or they could increase the risk of being involved in an accident.
