The expenses associated with adhering to health and safety rules is on the rise.
This is according to a survey from the EEF, which has called on the government to become more proactive in its involvement with Europe on evaluating health and safety directives.
It has also stepped up the pace of reforming health and safety regulations in Britain.
Terry Woolmer, head of health and safety policy at the EEF, said: "Industry has made great strides to make health & safety part of business best practice and senior managers are leading by example.
"Manufacturers are seeing benefits to their business from their investment in health and safety."
This news comes after the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) backed plans for children to be educated about risk.
It has put forward a programme of study for science across Key Stages 3 and 4.
