An Oldham company has been fined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for poorly maintained electrics, with a representative calling it one of the worst cases of dangerous electrics they have ever seen.

Townfield Manufacturing Co Limited was charged by the HSE after a selection of cracked socket casings were found in their workplace alongside exposed conductors and live wires, which may encourage other businesses to ensure they have the correct safety signage in place.

Sarah Taylor, investigating inspector at HSE, said: "The employees at this firm were at serious risk of injury or even death."

Ms Taylor also remarked that the factory's temperature was a problem, as the conditions were too cold to work in.

The HSE recently fined two barn owners in Bishop's Stortford after an employee was injured at their site, which did not adhere to the necessary safety precautions. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800522233-ADNFCR
