Companies should spend more money on safety signs in order to reduce workplace accidents, it has been advised.

Whatishealthandsafety.co.uk has also urged businesses to carry out risk assessment procedures, which will enable them to identify dangers before they lead to any substantial damage.

Matt Hornsby, a spokesman for the website said: "There are a range of things companies can do to protect employees, visitors and the general public. These include cornering off dangerous areas, supplying the relevant personal protective equipment and providing the appropriate training."

Mr Hornsby continued by saying that too many businesses attempt to cut corners when it comes to safety, which can have a negative effect on staff.

When assessing their health and safety policy, companies should try to analyse their funds before budgeting their finances accordingly.

The economic downturn has left many businesses with financial worries but, with the correct planning, safety measures can be affordable.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801407815-ADNFCR
