A new scheme that keeps children and young people safe in Cardiff has been commended with a national award.

Sarah-Jane Bailey and Nick Bellamy from South Wales have both collected the honour for their ongoing work on the StaySafe project.

The Trust's Royal Patron, HRH Princess Anne presented the accolades at a special ceremony held at Buckingham Palace.

Richard Cook, Cardiff Council’s Cardiff’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: "To have your efforts recognised at a national level is a great achievement and I am delighted for Sarah-Jane and Nick.

"We take the health and wellbeing of young people in Cardiff very seriously and Staysafe is a great example of how we are working with our partners to help keep vulnerable children safe."

The awards were established in 1985 in memory of the former home secretary RAB Butler and aim to celebrate exceptional dedication, skill and creativity to people working in the UK's youth justice settings.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801557149-ADNFCR
