The British Safety Council has announced its 2013 International Safety Awards.

The initiative aims to recognise effective health and safety management over the last year, with 2013 marking the 55th anniversary of the event.

All organisations are eligible for honours and 550 won accolades last year, including Aramark, Aston Martin Lagonda, Barclays Capital and Bovis Homes.

Applications need to be filled in online and have to be handed in by the 25th January deadline, while the health and safety champion of the year and health and safety young champion of the year will both be added this year.

Those companies that are successful are awarded a pass, a merit or distinction, with results sent out to all applicants by February 18th 2013.

BAM FM is one organisation that was recently honoured for its health and safety efforts.

The firm picked up a gold medal from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)  after achieving high standards for five years in a row.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801442661-ADNFCR
