Bike convention cancelled amid safety worries

A bike convention in Oxfordshire has been cancelled due to concerns over the health and safety of riders.

It appears that even safety signage will not lead to Cassington Bike Night commencing, as its organisers at the British Motorcyle Riders Club (BMRC) have been told that there are too many people who want to take part, according to the Witney Gazette.

Peter Carpenter, president of the BRMC of Oxford, told the newspaper: "This event has been running for many years and attracts about 8,000 motorbikes. To date there have never been any problems."

Mr Carpenter expressed his disappointment at the cancellation of the event, which sees riders travel from places as far away as Holland.

Meanwhile, mountain bikers have been warned to not use Hadleigh Farm Country Park's Olympic course, the Enquirer reveals.

Warning signs have been used to discourage people from using the site, which is potentially dangerous. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800568013-ADNFCR
