BECTU's new health and safety qualification has been warmly received at PLASA2012.

The accreditation, which is named the Creative Industries Safety Passport, operates in the television and broadcast sectors and is backed by the Sector Skills Council.

The qualification has been accepted as part of the Production Safety Passport scheme, giving participants the chance to apply for financial help towards the cost of training.

As well as this, the Creative Industries Safety Passport is accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. It is awarded after the successful completion of a one-day course and is issued by the group for a three-year period.

It acts as evidence that imperative health and safety awareness tasks have been carried out.

IOSH recently announced concerns regarding new consultation principles from the UK government.

The coalition suggests that no consultation time is required in certain circumstances, but IOSH instead backs the current standards, which provide a minimum of 12 weeks consultation time.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801454947-ADNFCR
