Anglia Ruskin University recognised for health and safety efforts

Anglia Ruskin University has been awarded the gold standard for its health and safety measures.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) recognised the institution in its annual occupational awards, with the accolade set to be presented at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on May 17th.

Professor Michael Thorne, vice-chancellor of Anglia Ruskin, said: "We pride ourselves on championing the importance of taking a sensible, pragmatic approach to health and safety, which allows us to provide a safe environment to all our students and staff."

Paul Varley, head of risk management at the university, also commented on the award, noting that it is a "remarkable achievement".

It has been announced that the message of health and safety will be issued in a series of drama performances by year one students at Huddersfield University.

The productions have been partly funded by the Yorkshire branch of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and focus on topics such as road safety.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801347458-ADNFCR
