Adjudicator describes Sheffield tram signs as misleading

An independent adjudicator has described bus and tram gate signs at Hillsborough Corner in Sheffield as misleading.

David Binns told the Star that the signage was inadequate and could confuse even careful motorists, as it does not inform motorists of the fact that restrictions are enforced 24 hours a day.

Despite this, Sheffield Council has declined his claim and is refusing to refund hundreds of drivers who have been caught out, even though Mr Binns led one fined motorist to victory in an appeal.

"The hours are not stated on the signs for the bus lane although other small bus lanes in the area are all signed," he told the news provider.

Recently, the Newmarket Journal reported that drivers in Newmarket have been urged to take notice of warning signs following adverse weather in the area.

Several roads were shut due to the conditions, but officials were worried about road users who ignored the signs in an attempt to travel through the water.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801508650-ADNFCR
