A third of staff 'working in an unsafe environment'

15th January 2010 | Health and Safety Signs

Over a third of staff say that their workplace environment is not safe to operate in, a report has shown, which may highlight the need to use health and safety signs.

The study, conducted by Resource GB, found that 35 per cent of workers in the UK do not think that their office or workplace is as safe as it could be, whereas as 20 per cent believe their co-workers are dangerous.

Esther Wassmann, managing director of the organisation, highlighted the importance of safety signs when saying that budgetary cuts may be a factor in more workplaces becoming unsafe.

"From the results it is clear that the cuts made to cleaning and maintenance budgets are having an impact on the workforce and could be impacting on the health of employees as well as putting off potential customers," she said.

Meanwhile, Terry Rose, south-west regional director for the Health and Safety Executive, recently said that campaigns which raise the importance of safety signs are always important and should not be ignored.ADNFCR-2754-ID-19559313-ADNFCR
